Game of Thrones 

Nowadays, it is nearly impossible to have never heard of the global phenomenon that is Game of Thrones. Even before watching it myself, I just couldn't escape the buzz that followed this incredibly popular show. As a result, in my mind I already thought I had an idea of what the show would be like, just from knowing a few characters and seeing a few pictures. To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be something I would enjoy, never being someone to like blood and gore or long fight scenes. However, from the first moment I couldn't have been proved more wrong. I instantly found every second to be perfectly thought out, and even with aspects I wouldn't usually find appealing, I just couldn't draw my eyes away.

Amazingly, all characters exceeded my expectations, due to the fact that I didn't realize how complex and significant they would all be. Typically, I am a person who will always support the "good guys", the "heroes" of the show, but in Game of Thrones, I have found myself constantly changing my mind and being conflicted in my opinion of a character. I believe this to be due to the line between goodTH and bad in terms of characters is often unclear. For example, the character "Cersei Lannister" (played by Lena Headey) would be generally considered the "villain" of the show. She has a cruel, bitter and manipulative nature, a sharp tongue and is willing to do whatever and kill whoever she can to get what she wants. However, no character is straight forward and simple. She is known to have a great love for her children, this often drives her to make more questionable decisions yet, there has been times where I have admired and agreed with her choices as well. Despite, this I do have to admit amoung my favouite charcters are:  Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) who are definitely known as more heroic.














The several story lines mean there is never a boring moment and I have enjoyed watching the characters and story all link together in these final seasons. Over the years, the show has become famous for its unpredictable plot twists, especially when killing favourite or important characters. As a result of the multiple risks taken by the producers, Game of Thrones is undeniably unique and many would agree it is what puts it above so many other shows. The fact alone that Game of Thrones has achieved a record breaking number of nominations and wins for a primetime television show proves his success.
